Trekking Salkantay to Machu Picchu 5D

Located in the department of Cusco, Salkantay (6,271 masl), is the highlight of a trekking circuit that combines a majestic natural setting of great beauty with the attraction of the most famous pre-Hispanic remains in the world: Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail. The route begins by following the old Inca road carved into the rock that leads to the citadel of Machu Picchu and crosses a mountain pass between the snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay (5,917 masl), to continue along the Aobamba river ravine until reaching the archaeological site.

This is a remote and old road. The Salkantay route to the Inca Sanctuary of Machu Picchu is another alternative for tourists. During the walk you have impressive scenarios of different snow-capped peaks and ending in the cloud forest of the Amazon jungle, with subtropical zones, glacial peaks, to arrive at the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu.

The Andes are considered a young mountain range according to geological studies. They were formed 60 million years ago by the different movements of tectonic plates, which is why Cusco's location in the Andes makes it one of the best places for walks. Each mountain chain and its noble inhabitants maintain a special landscape. This variety of landscapes and people, combined with the unique history of their ancestors, the Incas, offer hikers and explorers a true adventure.
