The Ollantaytambo Fortress or The Royal House of the Sun

The Ollantaytambo Fortress or The Royal House of the Sun

The Amazing Ruins

In this place we find "Mañay Racay" Square or better known as Aracma Ayllu ceremonial and was a ceremonial part in Inca Times. Also, you can see the octagonal homes were divided in neighborhoods known as the Qosqo Ayllu (Cusco City).

The Fortress or Real House of the Sun

Beautiful place that is composed by 17 over imposed terraces of pink granite and contains a lineup that beat the time to show us what they were capable to do the Peruvian ancestors to develop agriculture. To this we combine the huge ramparts and walls that surrounding the royal house of the sun that it have a inner inclination, with a composition of six huge blocks with joints of small stones, which are part of Main Altar.

The Temple of the Sun

It is one of the most impressive monuments of the entire circuit of Ollantaytambo and contains a majestic and immense wall of six monoliths perfectly crimped in unique arrangement, plus smaller prominences which gives an idea to how these stones were transported.

"Inca Huatana" or "Intihuatana"

Located in the Sun temple, this monument has it a wall with high alcoves, whose sides are security holes (80 cm. Possibly deep). At the front of this place it is located a suspended structure on the cliff showing the impressive view of the Sacred Valley, it was presumed to control people and war prisoners war. Another concept and the most accepted by the guides are that it was an astronomical observatory.
