17 September 2015

Located in Cusco department, Salkantay (6,271 feet) is the final part of the trek that combines a majestic setting with great natural beauty and the most famous pre-Hispanic ruins of the world which are Machu Picchu and Inca Trail. The route begins touring the old Inca road carved in rock that leads to Machu Picchu and crosses mountains that pass between the glaciers of Humantay and Salkantay (5,917 f), to finish on Aobamba valley and reach the archaeological site.

The Cordillera Vilcanota is an impressive range of mountains which include the massive Salkantay snowcapped mountain (6,264 meters) and three others over 6000 meters that you will appreciate while on the Salkantay tour. Salkantay is an outstanding snow peak, located less than fifty miles northwest of the city of Cusco in south central Peru. It is the highest mountain of the Cordillera Vilcabamba. Because of its proximity to the city, it is easily accessible and is climbed frequently. Join us on this incredible Salkantay Trekking Tour to Machu Picchu. Book early.
