Museum of Natural History in Cusco City

The Natural History Museum is part of the School of Biological Sciences UNSAAC exhibits geological and paleontological samples of Cusco and its suburbs, also exhibits representative specimens of biodiversity in the region. These include the tusk of a mammoth that lived across the continent about 8000 years ago.


Located in the Plaza de Armas of Cusco, in the local university auditorium, this museum exhibits an interesting material work product of teachers and students who have different collections that are representative samples of flora and fauna. The museum also has geological and paleontological collections section with fossil samples.

 


Section for the fauna and comprises bottles taxidermizadas conservation samples with different embryos of animals including man.

The section devoted to the flora consists of sample characteristics of the Andean region between them stands a collection of microscopic fungi and other traditional medicinal plants.

 


The Museum of Natural History UNSAAC, also has a living dioramas alluding to the three natural regions of Peru: coast, highlands and jungle.
