The archaeological complex of Machupitumarca is located into the peasant village of Consachapi (Pitumarca district), to 3565 meters above the sea level and according to data collected the construction, this complex belongs to Pre Inca culture of Canchis.
The archaeological complex is identified by a pirca style and the site is divided in three sectors:
Sector 1: Located to 3850 meters of altitude and in the south of this place is incorporated or formed by 6 rectangular enclosures plants.
Sector 2: Located in the half part of this place, occupying a small mound that it was appropriate for the construction of the big walls, is for that reason it is used as a observation point, this because from there you can see the basin of Ausangate, both the top and the bottom.
Sector 3: Located in top of this place, which is conformed by small plants that it is located in different levels.
The Inca Garcilazo de la Vega writer mentioned in his literary work "Cometarios Reales", that Pitumarca was one of the two places most important during the incanato, due to that were considered inside of the main routes of Qhapaq Ñan to Marcapata.
