Cusco Festivities: Inti Raymi

Inti Raymi, also known as the Feast of the Sun, is the most important celebration of the year. It's a special time of year that happens on June 24, and it's a joyous occasion that marks the winter solstice and the start of the Andean New Year.
In the beautiful city of Cusco, the ancient capital of the Tahuantinsuyo and a popular tourist destination, the Inti Raymi festival is a special time for everyone. It's a ceremonial celebration that's a big part of the local culture, and it's something the people of Cusco, known as the Cusqueños, look forward to all year. The festival is a joyous occasion, and many young actors get to take part in it. They're proud to be a part of this event, and they put a lot of effort into making it a success. The beautiful ceremony begins in the Coricancha, where the Inca and his group start things off in a really special way. They move on to the main square, and then the grand finale takes place in Sacsayhuaman.
The new version of the Inti Raymi is an initiative of Humberto Vidal Unda. The script was written in Quechua by Faustino Espinoza Navarro, who also played the role of the Inca for many years. The participants are so dedicated to their roles, and the show is absolutely bursting with color, music, and dance.
The new Inti Raymi is a wonderful tradition that has been celebrated for more than seventy years. It's become a beloved part of life in Cusco. It's the highlight of June in the city, and its fame has spread beyond Peru's borders. It's been an inspiration for other festivals that celebrate national identity, like the Condor Raymi.
During the time of the Incas, this ceremony was a symbol of Peruvian identity.
