Choquequirao trek will be renovated for tourism

The ruins of Choquequirao are majestic and many have compared to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu, Choquequirao (from the Quechua chuqi gold and k'iraw, cot, ie "cradle of gold"), are the ruins of an Inca citadel located between the foothills of Mount Salkantay, in the district of Santa Teresa in the province of La Convencion, Cusco region, south of Peru.
