Day 2: Train: Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes - Tour in Machu Picchu - Overnight in Aguas Calientes

After a quiet breakfast we will go to the Ollantaytambo station to take the Vistadome train. This panoramic train allows us to appreciate the whole trip to Aguas Calientes in which you can see the nature in all its splendor; we will immediately board the bus to visit the most awaited: Machu Pichu. The tour we offer is private, so you can have time to get to know all this wonder minutely and calmly. We will start our tour around the archaeological complex (approximately 2 and a half hours). The complex is divided into two large areas: the agricultural area, formed by groupings of cultivation terraces, located to the south; and the urban zone, which is, of course, the one where its occupants lived and where the main civil and religious activities were developed; we will observe the Intihuatana, the royal quarters, the circular towers, the quarter of the three windows, the Temple of the Sun , the Temple of the Moon, the terraces that surround it and finally the cemetery of this citadel.

We will return by bus to Aguas Calientes, where they will have a buffet lunch at one of the best restaurants in Aguas Calientes.

After breakfast we will return on the Vistadome train to Ollantaytambo where our transfer will be waiting for the trip back to Cusco, on the way you can see some other important Inca remains such as Ollantaytambo, Maras, Moray and Chincheros.

We will start with Ollantaytambo, which is a monumental work of Inca architecture. It was a military, religious, administrative and agricultural complex, Ollantaytambo is the only Inca city that remains almost intact and their houses still serve as homes where their descendants dwell. The design of the city, its axes, its urban structure, the beauty of the volumes and its interplay of light and shadow attract the visitor.

Maras, a small town located to the west of Cusco, was an important town during the Viceroyalty period where in the mansions one can still see the coats of arms of the indigenous nobility on their facades. We will continue our expedition visiting Moray, a beautiful architectural complex located 38 kilometers from Cusco, for the scholars of this place, Moray was possibly an Inca agricultural research center where crop experiments were carried out at different heights.

Then we will visit the Salineras, located at an approximate height of 3,200 m.a.s.l. The salt mines have approximately 3,000 wells of salt, the dimensions of the wells fluctuate between 2 to 5 meters approximately, being fed by a main eye of salt water.

To finish, we will visit Chinchero, which was the place chosen by Túpac Inca Yupanqui to establish his residence. He ordered the construction of beautiful palaces for his personal use and that of his Panaca, we can also observe the colonial temple built over beautiful Inca quarters. Finally, we will return to the City of Cusco where we will leave you at the hotel.

Optionally you will have some time to have your meals, take pictures or see the landscape.
